Q1. Do I need to bring anything with me to registration?
A1. We need an up to date copy of your C.V. (send by email or bring in on a disk) and your passport. If you don't have a passport please speak to one of our Consultants prior to registration to find out other documentation acceptable by the Home Office. We also need the names and addresses of two referees (preferably including at least one previous employer).
Q2. Do I need to fill in a form when I register?
A2. No. During your interview, your Consultant will enter the relevant information straight onto our networked computer system. This saves your time and unnecessary duplication of information.
Q3. Is there any charge to me to register with COS?
A3. No. All our services to candidates are free.
Q4. When are you open and when can I register?
A4. We have extended opening hours between 8am and 7pm (6pm Friday) to give you the option of coming before or after work.
Q5. Will I be tested at registration, and if so, on what?
A5. At registration we assess the level of our candidates' existing computer skills to ensure they are only matched to suitable vacancies appropriate to their skills set.
Q6. How long does the registration process take?
A6. We recommend that you allow an hour, which includes any assessments needed, but it could take a little longer depending on the number of vacancies we want to talk to you about.
Q7. What should I wear for registration?
A7. As our clients frequently ask about candidates' presentation, it is useful if you are able to dress smartly if possible.
Q8. Do I have to register with each branch or can I register with just one?
A8. All you need to do is register with the office most convenient for you. All our offices are networked and this means that no matter which branch you register with, your details can be accessed by any Consultant at any COS branch where a suitable vacancy exists.
Q9. Do I have to come in to re-register if I want to use COS again?
A9. It's always nice to see you again so that we can update your details and requirements and this gives you the opportunity to renew your relationship with us. However, your full details are always kept on our computer system so re-registration is quick and simple!
Q10. What type of companies do you deal with and what fields do you specialise in?
A10. We specialise in Office Support, covering the whole spectrum from Office Junior to Office Manager positions. We can therefore recruit for any industry regardless of size and type. We have strong business relationships which range from small independent companies to large blue chip organisations.
Q11. How long does it usually take to find me work?
A11. This can vary depending on your skills, experience, availability and requirements. However our aim is to find you work fast and we can often offer temp assignments to our candidates during the registration process.
Q12. What are the main computer packages I should get training on?
A12. This will depend on your career choice, for example, the most common packages used in offices today are Word, Powerpoint and Excel, but for more information speak to our Consultants.
Q13. Do you offer training?
A13. Yes. We offer training using the World's leading PC based training system for computer skills in all our branches. We can offer full training or just refresher courses in the most commonly used packages. Training can be carried out to suit your schedule - from just an hour or two, half a day or full day periods.
Q14. How do I get paid as a temp?
A14. You must provide us with your bank or building society account details (forms are available from the downloads section or by clicking here). Payment is made by BACS transfer directly to your account.
Q15. When do I get paid as a temp?
A15. Provided we receive your completed and signed timesheet in our Administration Department at our Knutsford Head Office by 11am on the Monday following the week you've worked, your payslip will be sent out on the Wednesday and your pay received into your bank/building society account by the Friday following the week worked.
Q16. Where do I send my timesheet?
A16. To our Administration Department at the Knutsford Head Office. Please ensure timesheets are received by 11am on the Monday following the week you've worked to ensure prompt payment.
