Working for COS

a day in the life of a recruitment consultant link to the diary

Recruitment is a rewarding career. The chance to enjoy high earnings is one reason for choosing to work in this industry but it’s not just about the money. The ability to really make a difference to peoples’ lives – placing candidates in the right jobs that give them the opportunity to develop their career and enhance their quality of life – is, in our opinion, one of the most rewarding aspects of this role. As well as gaining the respect of clients for finding them the right people who will add value to their businesses.

If you’ve looked at our site, or you’ve had contact with us as an employer or a job seeker, you’ll know by now that we value people – and of course that includes our own people! If you ask any of our Consultants why they chose to work for us – or why they stay with us – they’ll tell you that first and foremost it’s about ‘the team’.

But what else? What’s the culture like at COS and how do we compare to others? These are some of the answers given by our Consultants:

1...‘Being able to instil change and influence the future of the company – to what’s best for people and the business’

2...‘Encouragement for your autonomy – I really think of my ‘desk’ as my own business’

3...‘Being able to provide creative ideas’

4...‘Not stifled by ‘corporate’ – we can get decisions made and changes implemented straight away’

5...‘Having a voice’

6...‘Open-door policy’

7...‘I feel its more of a ‘consultancy’ than other agencies I’ve worked for in the past - because we provide more flexible and creative solutions, we’ve built a reputation for ‘quality’ rather than ‘quantity’ and that’s important to me.’

8...‘For me it’s the company ethos - because people matter; i.e. we really strive to put the right people in the right jobs and not just bums on seats’

So whilst ‘company reputation’, ‘training and development’ and ‘salary and benefits’ are all important factors that we strive to excel in (we’ll be happy to expand on these areas at interview), it’s our people and our culture that sets us aside.

If you’ve researched the role of a Recruitment Consultant you’ll know that although rewarding, it’s also a tough, highly pressurised and demanding job. If you’d like to be considered for a position with us, you’ll need to be driven, tenacious and self motivated – since the job is results-focused, within a highly competitive sales environment. However we also place a high value on ‘team-players’ with the ability to introduce new ideas and creative solutions for our customers and our business. Sound like you? Send your CV with covering letter to our Managing Director – olivia.ryder@cosrecruitment.co.uk
